Rich and Flavorful Slow Cooker Chicken Stroganoff

Stroganoff is usually made with beef but chicken stroganoff is also delicious. This is a slow cooker recipe so you can start it before you go to work and come home to a wonderful meal. There are only four ingredients but, left cooking all day in the crockpot, this chicken stroganoff recipe is rich in taste since all the flavors combine wonderfully well. Boneless chicken is economical and this is a cheap dish to make, which is ideal if you want to feed a hungry family.

Chicken stroganoff is a dish that most people have heard of. You can even get readymade chicken stroganoff from grocery stores but these really pale in comparison to homemade chicken stroganoff recipes, as you would expect. Most dishes are better if you make them yourself. If you are using smooth mushroom soup, rather than a chunkier type, you can add some sliced mushrooms to the slow cooker too. You might also want to add some capers or finely chopped pickles to this chicken stroganoff recipe and some finely diced onions for more texture.

Perhaps you are not expecting much from a four-ingredient recipe but, to be honest, even if you stick to the recipe and just use chicken, mushroom soup, sour cream and onion soup mix, you will get a really flavorful result and the chicken stroganoff will be appreciated by the whole family. Crockpot recipes make it possible to use a limited number of ingredients and still end up with something delicious, because of the way the slow cooking process blends and optimizes the flavors. Serve it with rice or mashed potato if you like.

Ingredients –

  • 6 chicken breasts, boneless and skinless
  • 1 package onion soup mix
  • 12 oz sour cream
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
